Introduction :
Located in the Krishna and Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in the region. Established in 1978, the wildlife sanctuary was set up in an attempt to save the mangrove vegetation of the region. It is situated about 70 kilometers from Rajahmundry, close to River Godavari. The backwaters of the river offer an ideal natural habitat for different animals and birds.
The picturesque location offers an ideal location for tourists to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. The tourism department has taken efforts to provide all necessary facilities to tourists. The forest rest house offers excellent accommodation facilities.
The climate in the region is quite hot and humid. The summer months can be extremely dry. The region receives south-west monsoons during the months between June and September.
The rich vegetation of the region includes plants like Rhizophora, Avicennia, Sonneratia and Aegiceros. This facilitates animals and birds and offers a home to them.
