Located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, Puri Beach in Orissa offers the fun of white sand and blue waters to its visitors. Famous for annual Puri Beach Festival, Puri Beach is considered as the sacred beach. It is frequently visited by tourists for it is home to the popular Jagannath Temple as well. The beach festival is held continuously for five days from 5th to 9th November. Several cultural programs and feasts are held during these days. Local people greet tourists with best of Orissan cuisine and delights. This Festival typically reveals the tradition and culture of Orissa. Traveling Orissa and Puri Beach during this time of the year, indeed, would be quite entertaining. A competition for displaying fireworks is also held during these days.

The Puri Beach, Orissa is also well known around the world for its wide ranging sand sculptures by Sudarshan Patnaik, an internationally acclaimed artist. The subject matter of his sculptures includes contemporary events, temple walls and characters from Indian mythology.
