Kalimpong Hill Station If you are planning to visit a hill station in India this vacation, there can be no better choice than Kalimpong. Placed amidst the Shiwalik hills, it is a part of the district of Darjeeling. Known for the educational institutes, it is visited by large number of tourists and students. You will find numerous Buddhist monasteries in and around Kalimpong. The flower market of Kalimpong will surely draw your attention.

Located on the ridge that connects Deolo hill and Durpin hill, Kalimpong in Sikkim attracts thousands of travelers by its superb breathtaking beauty. River Teesta flows by the side this town. Some of the most commonly found floras in Kalimpong are acacia, orchids, cinnamon, ficus, bamboo, cacti and cardamom. Evergreen alpine vegetation and pine trees are commonly found. The faunas, which are largely found in Kalimpong, are Red Panda, Asiatic black bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan Tahr, Siberian Weasel, barking deer, Clouded Leopard, goral, gaur and pangolin. Some of the major birds, which are found here, are Monal pheasant, hornbills, Eurasian Sparrowhawks, Black Baza, Besra, Himalayan Griffon Vulture, and the Kalij Pheasant.
