Ramesharam is one of the well known pilgrimage sites in India. It is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and is visited by thousands of tourists. The place is an important pilgrimage spot for the people of the Hindu community.
Ramesharam in Tamil Nadu was an important point from where Lord Rama started his journey to Lanka to save Sita. A bridge made of rocks was constructed to go to Lanka. The site is considered holy to people of both the Vaishnava and Shaiva communities and is also known as the Varanasi of the south.
