History of Ram Navami Festival:

Ram Navami Festival in Madhya Pradesh, India is dedicated to the birth of Lord Rama. It is held on the ninth day (navami) of the waxing moon in Chaitra. The festival of Ram Navami commemorates the birth of Rama, the hero of epic Ramayana, who is held in high esteem for his prosperous and righteous reign popular by the name of Ramrajya. Ram Navami in Madhya Pradesh, India is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in the month of March.

Ram Navami Celebrations:

Celebrations of Ram Navami Festival begin early in the morning with a prayer to the Sun. A special prayer is performed at midday when Lord Rama is believed to have been born. Some parts of Madhya Pradesh also organize processions to commemorate this event.

The main attraction in these processions is a gaily-decorated chariot where four persons are seated who are dressed as Rama, his queen Sita, Rama’s brother Laxman and his disciple, Hanuman. Several other persons also accompany the chariot dressed as Rama's soldiers.
