Jalianwala Day

Jalianwala Day is the remembrance of Jalaianwala massacre that happened in Jalianwala Bagh on April 13, 1919. It is to remember the martyr of freedom fighters who were killed during the massacre. It took place in Baisakhi on the New Year Day of the Sikhs. As the Sikhs gathered on the New Year Day to protest against the harassment of the British, the British troops open fired at the innocent people killing many. This led to the Jalainwala massacre.


About Jalianwala Day

This day is remembered as Jalianwala Day through out India. The remembrance of this day is done by organizing programs that pay respect to the sacrifice of these people. A number of programs are organized in various parts of the country. Plays, dramas and various other art forms are performed to ensure that people remember this significant day in India's freedom struggle.
