Introduction to Rashtriya Ramleela Mela:
Ramleela Mela is generally held in almost every part of India to celebrate the return of Lord Rama from exile. According to the legend, there was a king called Dasaratha in the Indian epic the Ramayana. He had three wives and none of them could bear him a child. After a prolonged sorrowful period, he ultimately took refuge in the kind words of a sage who also promised him a child. According to his advice King distributed Payasa that contained holy to be distributed among his four wives. By taking this payasa, Queen Kaushalya gave birth to Lord Rama, Queen Kaikeyee gave birth to Bharata and Queen Sumitra gave birth to Laxmana and Shatrughna.
Lord Rama grew up to be a fine young gentleman and he married Sita by breaking the bow that nobody else could break. The extreme jealous step-mother of Sri Rama, named Kaikeyee, imposed on King Dasaratha a promise that led the former to exile for 14 long years. With him want his brother Laxamana and wife Sita. One day Sita met with a golden deer and was allured by the beauty of the deer. She asked for it, and in order to keep her request Lord Rama went deep inside the forest and he was followed by his brother. In the meantime, the fatal demon Ravana came to beg for alms to Sita posed as a Sage. Then he abducted the queen; the abducted queen Sita was abducted. But her courageous husband eventually killed the demon Ravana. The killing of Ravana is of primary importance to the people. They celebrate it as an auspicious occasion with merriment and delight. The people of Madhya Pradesh celebrate this occasion as Rashtriya Ramleela Mela.
