National Science Day


Celebrated on February 28, National Science Day is a day to remember the discovery of C.V. Raman. His discovery of the Raman Effect helped him win the Nobel Prize in 1930. The day remembers the remarkable contribution of the man towards the world of Science. Thus this day holds a great significance in the world scientific forum and is way to recognize his work in the field science.

Celebration of National Science Day

It was the initiative of NCSTC to designate February 28 as National Science Day. NCSTC proposed the Government of India to recognize this day as National Science Day. It got the recognition and during its first celebration, NCSTC declared the National Science Popularization awards to recognize remarkable efforts in the field of science communication and popularization. It was a much deserved recognition of C.V Raman's immense contribution to the world of science. In fact, considering the impact of science in our daily life, the path breaking technology has proved to be relevant in our daily life as well.

The day is celebrated throughout India. Large number of schools, colleges, universities and various other research institutions in the country celebrate this special day. In fact, scientific, medical and technical institutions also take part in this celebration.
