Rambarat Festival takes place on one of these days. Rambarat or the Wedding procession of Lord Rama is taken out on the occasion of this festival.
The legendary heroine Sita was the daughter of Raja Janak. The kingdom over which he ruled was rightfully referred to as Janakpuri. Every year, a particular spot in the city of Agra is selected. It is designated as the new Janakpuri. The devotees then take the initiative and decorate this place beautifully. The royal wedding of their Lord Rama with Sita will be taking place here and so the adornments are very impressive. It is attractively ornamented with flowers and wreath.
Then a grand procession is taken out from Lala Channomalji Ki Baradari. The procession is marked by the presence of many tableaux which is popularly referred to as Jhankis. It is a visual delight to watch these as well as the portraits of Lord Ram and Lakshman mounted on horses. It is assumed that Lakshman is accompanying his brother when he is going to marry. Throughout the night, the procession covers various parts of the city.
A large number of people participate in the processions. They remain awake the whole night through and rejoice in the celebrations. Their enthusiasm is indeed remarkable.
