Jammu is, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir and famous more than anything else for the Vaishno Devi temple- an important Hindu pilgrimage spot. The Shivalik range and the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas take up much of the terrain of Jammu. Jammu is located on the foothills of the vale of Kashmir and is a popular shopping haunt for dry fruits and cricket bats (thanks to the willow vegetation).
