Beaches in Goa Ask any person which is the famous beach destination in India? Without any qualms the answer is going to be Goa. Beaches in Goa are rated amongst the finest beach destinations in the world. Several national and international travelers have termed it as the "Indian Caribbean". Goan coastline is about 125 kilometers long and is dotted with abundant sandy beaches with green palm trees that add to the overall beauty. Beaches of Goa can be divided in to two parts, namely the South and the North beaches. As the name suggests the both have their own distinctive features. As you stroll over the Northern beaches, you will notice the beach parties and the carnivals that are popular here. People here are dressed as per the occasion and are full of mirth. Towards the evening you would find musical performances on the beachside with small food stalls being set up.

The South Goa beaches are quiet a contrast to this. The ambiance is serene and calmer. Couples prefer to be here for their honeymoon so that they can spend some lone time together. This is a hub for "relaxed solitude" where you can unwind yourself as you look at the amber hued setting sun across the horizon.

Beaches in North Goa


The beaches located here stretch across a distance of 30kilometers. Apart from vibrant parties and get-togethers, there are other adventure sports activities as well. Dona Paula is one of the well known North Goa beaches. Apart from the water sport activities this is a popular shopping destination as well. The best selling items here are dresses and handicrafts. Domestic as well as national tourists indulge themselves in cruises, sunbath and biking too.

Accommodations too are reasonably priced and have wooden eateries located nearby. The British travelers have made the place livelier. The Tito's Night Club is well known for owning the only dance floor amongst the pubs. On the other hand Baga beach is a famous food destination.

Beaches in South Goa

This is an ideal spot for the honeymoon couples, who can enjoy serene moments and create beautiful memories. The white sands here stretch up to 20 kms towards the south. Churches are a special attraction that Goa has, especially with interiors that reflect the Portuguese influence. The famous church in Colva-Benaulim is Our Lady of the Merry Church that dates back to 17th century.

Another eminent name here is the Varca Beach that is known for its black lava rocks and the white soft sands. This is a famous haunt for seafood lovers, especially the areas located near to the Dona Sylvia. Here you will find boat trips that are arranged for Dolphin shows.
