Chapora Beach, undisputedly one of the best beaches of Goa strikes a chord in the heart of every visitor with its white sandy stretch, its azure expanse, its black lava rocks and its swaying palms. It is an eternal favorite for all those who love the sand and the surf.
The Chapora Beach is considered to be fairly safe and one can unhesitatingly and fearlessly take a bath here. In fact it is very difficult to resist the tempting waves. You are sure to be lured by them. However it is advisable to seek the help of the life guards because the undercurrents are sometimes very strong.
The small stalls at the Chapora Beach sell mouth watering Goan delicacies. Make sure to try out "Bebinca", its taste is sure to linger in your mouths long after you've finished eating. Some shops also sell artifacts, antiques and trinkets, mostly made out of sea shells. They do not just make lovely presents, they can also be taken back home as decorative items to adorn the interiors of your rooms. Days later when you look at them, you are sure to remember with fondness the enjoyable times you spent at the Chapora Beach.
You can laze in the beach, but also make sure to check out the Chapora Fort. Built 500 years ago, this Portuguese fort is reachable after a hard climb but once you are there, you are sure to be absolutely overwhelmed by the views it offers of the sea, the green carpeted hills and the rice fields.
The nearest railway station is Karmali and the nearest airport is Dabolim. From both these transit points as well as from other important points of Goa buses to Chapora Beach is available at frequent intervals. You can also take a taxi from the railway station and airport.
Goa, one of the foremost beach destinations of the country was formerly a Portuguese colony. It became an integral part of India in 1960. It is a place where the ambience is always filled with fun and frolic. The atmosphere is one of unrestrained mirth and consequently it's a great place to unwind. Other than the beaches and the sea, there are also many temples and churches in Goa that are all major tourist attractions.
