Bhimtal, positioned at a distance of 22 kms from Nainital, has been named after one of the Pandav brothers, called Bhim. The biggest lake in the district of Nainital, Bhim Tal is 1701 meters by 265 meters, and 265 meters longer than the Naini Lake. The lake known for its glorious splendor is located at an elevation of 1371.6 meters above the sea level.
Bhim Tal has an island, to the north-eastern side of the hill station. The island is a wonderful gem in the center of the lake.
