City Info :
Katra lies at the foot of the Trikuta Mountains, and is located at a distance of 48 km from Jammu. Katra serves as the base camp for visiting the famous shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, which can be reached on foot along a 13 km long uphill walk along a well laid footpath. The shrine can also be reached on horseback. An auto and a helicopter service have been recently started as well, for the convenience of the pilgrims. Every year 4.5 million pilgrims visit the shrine.
