The Kangra Valley at the foot of the Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh overlooking the snow capped Dhauladhar Range, is a historical city on the lower Himalayas. The Taragarh Palace in Kangra was built by the Nawab of Bhawalpur in 1937. Standing majestically at a height of 100 meters, the palace sprawls over 15 acres of lush forests and tea gardens in the Kangra Valley in Himachal Pradesh. The palace was built as a summer resort and was acquired by the Royal Family of Jammu & Kashmir in 1951. In 1971 the palace was transformed into a hotel and is now one of the best hotels in Kangra.
