Introduction:
Bandipur Safari Lodge is placed halfway down the Mysore-Ooty road adjacent to the world-famous Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. The park, set up in 1931 by the Mysore Maharajas, was formed by broadening the Venugopal Wildlife Park. Situated in the foothills of the Nilgiris, Bandipur National Park is now one of the tiger reserves in the country. The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, one of the last refuges of endangered Asiatic wild elephants, forms a section of the park.
