Introduction :
The Vanghat River Lodge, situated on the Ramganga at the edge of Corbett Tiger Reserve, is part of a community-based tourism initiative that promotes sportfishing. Vanghat lies in total seclusion with the meandering Ramganga River virtually cutting it off from human habitation. The river is rich with the spectacular Golden Mahseer fish and catches of up to 65 lb have been recorded in the recent past. The thrill of landing the Mahseer in wild terrain is indescribable as it is a legendary fighter, a trait that has earned it the nickname 'Tiger of the Waters'. With the experience of staying in a forest coupled with the thrill of catching the Mahseer, Vanghat River Lodge is a unique wildlife experience and easily ranks as one of the most remote Jungle lodges of India.

Vanghat Location
The Vanghat River lodge is 4 km away from the entrance of the Chimtakhal forest gate. The entire stretch is vegetated with Sal forests. Half of the distance can be covered by jeep on a forest track and the other half is a rather steep downhill walk that descends into the Ramganga valley. There's also an easier access via the suspension bridge at Baluli, from where it's a gradual 2.5 km walk. This route is accessible from December to June. After February it is possible to drive into Vanghat on a trail that fords in and out of the river along the Ramganga River.
