Introduction:

One of the most important and well- preserved wild life sanctuaries in India, the Fauna in Corbett National Park is the one of the leading tourist attractions of Uttaranchal. Nestled amidst the majestic beauty of the Himalayan Mountain Range, the Corbett National Park, established by the late Jim Corbett, one of the most famous naturalists and environmentalists of the world, is one of the most visited national Parks in India.

The various species of Fauna in Corbett can be divided into the following sub types:

Mammals
The most commonly found ones are Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Dhole, Jackal, Yellow Throated Martem, Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Grey Mongoose, Common Otter, Porcupine, Clack-taped Hare besides the Chital, Spotted Deer, Para, Kakka, and the Barking Deer

Birds
The Peacock, Jungle Fowl, partridge, Kaleej Pheasant, crow, vulture, parakeet, Laughing Thrush, oriole, kingfisher, drongo, dove, woodpecker, duck, teal, stork, cormorant and seagull form the species that inhabit the Corbett National Park

Reptiles
Indian marsh crocodile, gharial, King cobra, common krait, cobra, Russels viper, python and monitor lizard are the most common ones
