The park spreads over 97 sq kilometers of verdant green. It consists of mostly high altitude grasslands with intermittent shoals. The highest peak is the Anamudi hills. Eravikulam Park mainly consists of three major kinds of vegetation- grassland, shrubland and wild forest.

Fauna in Eravikulam is of wide variety. The park houses the largest surviving population of Nilgiri Tahrs. The fully grown male version is known as the saddle back. The park acts as the mating ground of these animals and a recent survey shows a significant rise in the population of these creatures. Other animals that you could possibly come across here are Nilgiri martens, small clawed otter, mongoose, squirrel etc.
Elephants also make seasonal visits in this park.

120 species of birds have also been recorded in this Park.
