Introduction:
Built over 97 square kilometers, Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Western Ghats in the Idukki district of Kerala. Previously a part of the tea plantation, in 1978, Eravikulam was declared as a wildlife sanctuary. It was established to conserve Nilgiri Tahr, endangered specie of wild goat.
Wildlife in Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary primarily includes Nilgiri Tahr as Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary houses the largest number of this specie of wild goat in the world.
