Day 01: Mumbai
Arrive Mumbai. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: Mumbai
Mumbai city tour. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Mumbai/Diu/Sasangir
In the morning, transfer to the airport for the flight to Diu. On arrival, drive to Sasangir. Check in at the resort. In the evening watch a slide show on the park, its history and inhabitants followed by a brief presentation.
SASANGIR-The Gir National Park today is the only place in the world, outside Africa, where the lion can be seen in its natural habitat. The Asiatic lion is slightly smaller than its African cousin; nevertheless, a large male lion of the Gir is quite a sight to behold.
Day 04: Sasangir
Enjoy morning and afternoon jeep game drives.
Day 05: Sasangir
Take an early morning game drive and return to camp for breakfast. In the afternoon take a half Day excursion to Somnath Temple, which is believed to have been built over and over again, first in gold, then in silver, then in wood and in stone, by various Hindu mythological figures. Return to camp for a relaxed evening.
Day 06: Sasangir/Diu/Mumbai
Drive to Diu in the morning for your flight to Mumbai. Proceed from the airport to check in to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Mumbai/Nagpur/Kanha
Take the early morning flight to Nagpur. On arrival, drive to Kanha. Check in the resort. The Day is at leisure, with a slide show in the evening followed by a brief lecture.
Day 08: Kanha
Enjoy morning and afternoon jeep game drives.
Day 09: Kanha/Bandhavgarh
After an early morning game drive, drive to Bandhavgarh. Check in the resort. The Day is at leisure.
Days 10 & 11: Bandhavgarh
Enjoy morning and afternoon jeep game drives. The evening again offers a presentation and lecture.
Day 12: Bandhavgarh/Khajuraho/Delhi
In the morning, drive to Khajuraho. The erotic 1,000 year-old temples of Khajuraho are world famous. Built by the Chandela Rajput kings, only about 20 survive today. See the famous Kandariya Mahadeo Temple. Later take a flight to Delhi, where you are met and assisted to the Hotel.
Day 13: Delhi/Agra
The morning is dedicated to sightseeing of Delhi, driving past Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India, the magnificent Red Fort - a marvel in red sandstone,
Lutyens Delhi, including India Gate (war memorial). Visit the tastefully renovated
mausoleum of emperor Humayun - a combination of Persian and Indian styles of architecture. Then visit Qutab Minar, a gracefully 234-foot hand-carved tapered tower, and the iron pillar, which has withstood the ravages of time for 1,500 years.
After lunch, drive to Agra and check in at the Hotel.
Day 14: Agra/Delhi
Early this morning, visit the Taj Mahal - the world's greatest tribute to love built by Mughal Emperor, Shah Jehan, in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Later, visit the Agra Fort, the precursor to the Red Fort in Delhi. Visit the fascinating palaces and halls inside this fort including the Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Khas Palace, and the Sheesh Mahal (palace of mirrors).
In the afternoon, drive to Delhi for your dinner, then transfer to the International Airport for your flight home.
Day 15: Departure
Depart India in the early hours of the morning.
