Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary

The Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the state of Jharkhand in India. It spreads over an area of 184 sq km and has an average altitude of 615 m. A popular wildlife sanctuary in east India, Hazaribagh gives you the chance to get up, close and personal with many varieties of flora and fauna.

A trip to the Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary in Jharkhand is sure to be a delightful event for wildlife and nature lovers alike. The reserve is home to animals like the nilgai, kakar, chital, sloth bear, panther, wild boar and sambhar. You may also come across a tiger during a trip to the wildlife sanctuary, though it must be mentioned that the tiger population at Hazaribagh is very low.

The best time to tour the Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary is at dusk when a good number of animals can be seen near the water holes. The sanctuary has dense tropical forests and in the rainy season the jungle takes a different appearance with grass meadows covering huge tracts of land like a green carpet. It must also be mentioned that a number of tribal communities inhabit the areas surrounding the Hazaribagh Sanctuary.
