The Indrawati Tiger Reserve named after the perennial river Indravati, is located in Dantewad (formerly Bastar) district of Madhya Pradesh. In the catchments area of the Indravati River are the Reserve forests. Small hills like Kutroo, Kandlapatru and Matti Murka cover the region.

The major species of flora identified in the sanctuary are Teak, Dhaora, Lendia, Saja, Salai, Moyan, Mahua, Dhoban, Siras, Tendu, Bija, Achar, Karra, Kullu, Shisham, Semal, Haldu, Arjun, Bel, etc.

Besides tiger and wild buffalo, there is a diversity of faunal species including leopard, Barking deer, Nilgai, Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Gaur, etc that are seen here. Among reptiles spotted by tourists in the sanctuary are Fresh Water Crocodile, Common Monitor Lizard, Indian Chameleon, Indian Rock Python, Cobra, etc.
