The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary stretched over an extensive area of 345 sq. km nestles a huge variety of plant and animal species. The climate at the park plays an important pole in the type of vegetation it bears.
The climate in the forest has got influence of the Monsoon. In fact the park receives rain from southwest as well as Northeast monsoon. The southwest monsoon showers in the months from June to September and the northeast monsoon is active during the months of October and November. It rains the most in the month of July, while February is the driest month. The average rainfall that the sanctuary receives is around 300 mm.
