The climate in the forest has got influence of the Monsoon. In fact the park receives rain from southwest as well as Northeast monsoon. The southwest monsoon showers in the months from June to September and the northeast monsoon is active during the months of October and November. It rains the most in the month of July, while February is the driest month. The average rainfall that the sanctuary receives is around 300 mm.

 

There is not much difference between the maximum and the minimum temperature in the park. It shuttles between 29 °C maximum to 18 °C minimum. The mercury soars maximum during the months of April and May, while the months of January and February are considered to be the coldest.

Climate wise the best time to visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is from June to October.
