Introduction to the Cotigoa Wild Life Sanctuary
Located 60 kilometers from Panaji, Cotigoa Wild Life Sanctuary is the second largest in Goa. Talpona River waters this sanctuary stretching for 105 square kilometers. Established in 1969, it is a natural home to a wide array of flora and fauna. The Tiger’s roar, Hyena’s laugh, Monkey’s gibber and Elephant’s trumpet constitute the natural ambience of this immense house of nature. If by chance you come across a tiger, roaming about with all its splendor, this experience of a lifetime will forever be stored in the recesses of your mind. Rarely visible though, these animals make a city dweller envious by their simple habitat and crude joys amidst the charming woodlands.
About Cotigoa Wild Life Sanctuary
However the principle attraction of Cotigoa Wild life Sanctuary are the reptiles and monkeys. The number of majestic tigers which had been the main assets, having decreased over the years, the white eyed eagle and woodpecker replaced them; therefore the prime attraction shifted to reptiles, birds and other smaller animals. The 25 meters high watch tower is just unique; helping you to watch the animals in their natural habitat.
