Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011 is scheduled to start on 7th and continue till 9th January. It will be held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The event of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011, is divided into different segments. 2011 will be the ninth year of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The President of India will inaugurate the convention on 8th of January as well as end the event with a farewell speech on 9th of January.
Started in the year 2003, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated in the capital of India for marking the contribution of the community of Overseas Indian in the development of the Indian sub-continent. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was started by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs or MOIA. The event is held in the month of January every year.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas acts as the biggest platform for both the NRIs and PIOs for exchanging views as well as networking on different matters of mutual interests. Some the important decisions that are taken by the Indian Government in this convention include the following:
Major Highlights of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011, will have its main focus on the north eastern Indian states. The delegates who will be a part of this grand event will get an opportunity to interact with the Indian Cabinet Ministers, PIO dignitaries and ministers of other countries and with the Chief Ministers of different states. Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards, which will be conferred by the President of India, is an important part of the event.
The convention will also mark the continuation of the yearly Lecture series, which is based on the theme, 'Engaging the Global Indian'. 2011 will also see a commemorative lecture on Professor C K Prahalad. Concurrent sessions on Education, Youth, Health Services and Information Communication & Entertainment will also be held in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011, is a joint venture between Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in collaboration with 8 North Eastern States and the Confederation of Indian Industry or CII.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Exhibition
This year, the exhibition of the Pravasi Bharatyia Divas will be showcasing India to the different Indian delegates. Over 1500 Overseas Indian dignitaries of Global Indian Family will be participating in the event. Indian delegates from over 50 countries will be attending Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2011.
