Bhutan - The Himalayan Experience

Duration : 13 Nights/14 Days Tour

Places Covered : Kathmandu – Pokhra – Chitwan – Paro – Punakha – Wangduephodrang – Thimphu - Phuentsholing - Siliguri

 Kathmandu Day 1 :Arrive Kathmandu
Upon arrival in Kathmandu and reception by agency representative, transfer to the hotel. The orientation programme at hotel is followed by day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 : Kathmandu
Morning set out for Kathmandu sightseeing. Visit Swayambhunath - perhaps the most glorious stupa in the world and one of the holiest Buddhist sights in Nepal. Then proceed to Kantipur - the capital of King of Nepal. Visit temple of living goddess who acknowledges the greetings of devotees from the balcony. Kasthamandap, Durbar Square, Dhoka Palace, etc. are other sights of attraction.

Stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3 : Kathmandu – Pokhra
Morning proceed to Pokhra – a scenic drive lasting for around 6 hours.

Pokhra is an enchanting city nestled in a quiet and tranquil valley. It is a starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking and rafting trips. Pehwa lake with the magnificent Mt. Fishtail in the backdrop is a perfect place to hangout here. The major attractions include Barahi Temple, David’s fall, Bindabasini Temple and Seti Gorge.

Overnight at hotel in Pokhra.

Day 4 : Pokhra – Chitwan National Park
Today enjoy a pleasant boat ride in Pehwa Lake. Later head to Chitwan. Day 5 : Chitwan National Park
Enjoy full-day jungle activities including jungle stroll, elephant ride visit to villages.

Chitwan National Park is most exotic in Nepal offering 450 bird species and deer, leopard, sloth bear and wild boar. The park is well known for its one-horned Rhinoceros and Bengal Tigers. Stay overnight at Chitwan

Day 6 : Chitwan – Kathmandu
Morning drive to Kathmandu passing through picturesque valleys. Evening at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 7 : Kathmandu
Today set out early morning for sightseeing in Kathmandu. The sights include Boudhnath, Pashupatinath Temple and Bhaktapur City.

Boudhnath stupa stands with 4 pairs of eyes in the 4 cardinal directions keeping watch of righteous behavior and prosperity. Built by King Man Deva on advice of goddess Mani Jogini, this stupa is situated on the octagonal base inset with prayer wheels.

Spend night at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Paro Day 8 : Kathmandu – Paro
Today fly to Bhutan's beautiful town Paro by Druk Air.

The flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular of all mountain flights. Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and other prominent peaks can be seen during the flight.

On arrival at Paro airport transfer to hotel. Evening at leisure. Take a walk around town’s main street. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 9 : Paro
After breakfast take an excursion to Taktshang Monastery. This monastery is also called Tiger's Nest and has a long interesting history. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong, National Museum, Rinpung Dzong and a traditional farm house to discover lifestyle of Bhutanese people.

Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 10 : Paro – Punakha
Morning drive to remnants of Drukgyel Dzong followed by visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples of Bhutan. Later proceed towards Punakha across Dochula pass (3050m).

Evening visit to local market at Punakha. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 11 : Punakha – Wangduephodrang - Thimphu
Morning head to Wangduephodrang. Its formidable Dzong is a most scenic feature. Later drive to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan. Afternoon at leisure.

Stay overnight at hotel in Thimphu.

Thimphu Day 12 :Thimphu
Morning visit Trashichho Dzong, situated on the banks of Wang Chhu. Also visit Bhutan’s National Library which is located close to the Thangkha painting school and contains arguably the best collection of religious and historic literature in the Himalayas. The Memorial Chorten and Handicrafts Emporium are other places of attraction.

Overnight at Thimphu.

Day 13 Thimphu – Phuentsholing
Morning proceed to Phuentsholing and visit en route Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1629. The drive on Thimphu - Phuentsholing road is very pleasant with numerous spectacular spots en route such as Kharbandi Goemba.

Stay overnight at the lodge in Phuentsholing.

Day 14:Thimphu
This Himalayan sojourn culminates in Siliguri. Morning proceed to Siliguri en route passing through spectacular lush green tea gardens.
