The cave of Amarnath, lying at an height of 3952 Mtrs. is a famous holy place of pilgrimage for the Hindus and is held in the same veneration as Mount Kailash in Tibet. The sacred cave contains a Shiva Lingam formed of ice, the size of which increases or decreases according to the position of the Moon. This tour is a combination of driving and trekking through this rugged terrain and test of ones skill and endurance. We drive from Srinagar to Chandanwari from where we start our 32-kms trek through the mountains to reach the cave. This is a tour not just to off reaching the Amarnath cave but the journey itself as taken by many Indian pilgrims
Day 1 : Colombo – Pinnawala - Dambulla
Arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo where our representative will welcome you and escort you to Dambulla via Pinnawala.
The Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage began with only seven elephant orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location.
On arrival at Dambulla, check in at a hotel to spend the night.
Day 2 : Dambulla - Sigiriya - Kandy
Enjoy sightseeing in Dambulla today. Proceed to Kandy via Sigriya. En-route visit Nalanda Gedige.
Visit Dambulla Rock temple, a world heritage site. Also visit Nalanda Gedige, a most remarkable amalgamation of Hindu and Buddhist architectures. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress at Sigriya and explore the frescos.
Reach Kandy and check in at a hotel. Retire for the night.
Day 3 : Kandy - Peredeniya - Nuwara-Eliya
After breakfast, visit tourist hotspots in Kandy and Peredeniya on the way to Nuwara-Eliya.
Sightseeing includes a drive around the Kandy Lake, a cultural show, and a visit to the arts & crafts centre, gem museum, and the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Also visit the impressive Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.
Check in at a hotel in Nuwara-Eliya on arrival and relax.
Day 4 : Nuwara-Eliya - Kitulgala - Colombo
Explore Nuwara-Eliya and proceed to Colombo via Kitugala.
Nuwara-Eliya is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort and tea plantation region. The Kelani River is the broadest river in Sri Lanka where the Oscar winning movie "Bridge on the River Kwai" was filmed.
Overnight stay at hotel in Colombo.
Day 5 : Colombo
After breakfast proceed to the Colombo airport to board a flight for your onward destination.
