Badami is situated in North Karnataka and was once the capital of the Chalukya Empire of south India. The town is famous for its magnificent carved cave temples, museums and artificial lakes. The Cave Temples of Badami constitute four caves. In the latter part of the 6th century, these caves were carved out of the soft Deccan sandstone. The four caves are quite simple in their styles. There are thousands of tourists from each and every corner of the world and from all over India who come and visit the beautiful and historical Cave Temples in Badami in India.
The Cave Temples, Karnataka are extremely old and date back to six hundred and seven hundred CE. The architecture uses an intermingling of 2 distinct styles - North Indian Nagara and South Indian Dravidian.
