On your tour to Bangalore you must not miss the trip to Nandi Hill Station, Bangalore’s own hill resort acting as a great retreat for those in want of solace. About 65 kilometers from the city, the Nandi hill is at 1,478 meters above sea level. Home of the river Pennar, Palar and Arkavati, it was Tipu Sultan’s summer retreat and the fort walls stands testimony to it. Besides offering a panoramic view of the village below the Nandi Hill has a temple on its top as well one at its foothill. The Temple on Nandi hill is the Yoganandishwara temple.
The Chola rulers of Tamilnadu built the Temple on Nandi Hill, Yoganandishwara temple. In the foothills is the Bhoganandeeswara temple built by the Banas in the 9th century.
