History of Kerala
The first recorded history of Kerala was found during the reign of Emperor Asoka (269-232 B.C.). However, according to a number of legends associated with the origin of Kerala, the province was brought into existence by Parasurama, one of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Kerala was considered to be a conqueror's delight, a fact which brought a number of races to the province, which included the European powers like the Portuguese, the Dutch as well as the French.
