Wildlife at Eravikulam

The endangered mountain goat Nilgiri Tahr can be found here in large number. Elephants, tigers, civets, leopards, wild boar, sloth bear, mongoose, Nilgiri langurs, squirrels also reside here. A large population of butterflies and moths including the Atlas Moth the world's largest moth can be spotted.

Vegetation at Eravikulam

The Shola forests dominate the scene at Eravikulam. Among other plants, Eravikulam is home to the Neelkurinji the plant that blossom once in every 12 years. At that time the slopes of the Western turn blue with the magic of this flower.

Climate at Eravikulam

Eravikulam receives heavy rains during monsoon and remains pleasant all the year round. During winter the nights and early mornings are chilly but days are pleasant.
