Palace On Wheels, Palace On Wheels Tour

The Ranthambore National Park is famous for its tiger population and a haven for animal lovers, who arrivein this beautiful town from all the corners of the world. The city is also famous for a 10th century fort, which is situated inside the Ranthambore National Park.

We return to the Palace on Wheels and leave for Chittorgarh at 1030 hrs.

Day 06: Chittorgarh (Sunday), Arrive - 1600 Hrs
We reach Chittorgarh after having lunch on the Palace on Wheels.

The entirety of Chittorgarh still echoes with the tales of its tragic past… a tale of love, honor and sacrifice. Chittorgarh shares the secrets of her past as we discover the various hidden facets of this hauntingly beautiful city. We return to the Palace on Wheels.

The train leaves for Udaipur at 0530 hrs.

Day 07: Udaipur (Monday), Arrive - 0730 Hrs
We arrive in Udaipur in the morning.

Often considered to be one of the most romantic cities on earth, a tour to Udaipur, or the "city of lakes" is an experience of a lifetime! Founded by Maharana Udai sIngh in the 16th century, the city is home to Jag Niwas, Jag Mandir and the City Palace complex. We stop for lunch, which is followed by a trip to the Crystal Gallery in the evening.

We leave for Bharatpur on board the Palace on Wheels in the evening.

Day 08: Bharatpur (Tuesday), Arrive - 0630 Hrs
We arrive in Bharatpur in the morning.

Famous as the home of the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary, Bharatpur is a wild life lover's paradise. The city is famous for the bird sanctuary which houses almost 300 species of birds including migratory birds from Siberia and China.

We travel by road to Fatehpur Sikri in a luxurious coach.

Built by the Mughal emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri was once the capital of the Mughals. Well planned and meticulously maintained, this city was later abandoned by the Mughals due to a scarcity of water. Completely constructed of red sandstone, this city reflects the lost grandeur of the Mughals.

We drive back to the Palace on Wheels that leaves for Agra at 1145 hrs.

Day 09: Agra (Tuesday), Arrival - 1430 hrs
Arrive at Agra and set out on a sightseeing tour.

The day is devoted to a visit to the Taj Mahal, the most recognizable symbol of India. built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is still haunted by the spirit of love.

We return to the Palace on Wheels for dinner, while the train leaves Agra at 2300 hrs. Overnight stay on board the train.

Day 10: Delhi (Wednesday), Arrive - 0600 Hrs
We arrive at the Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi at 0600 hrs …..Tour Ends…..

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Departure Delhi (Wednesday)
The tour begins as we board the Palace on Wheels at the Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi at 1830 hrs.
Famed for the exquisite glimpse it provides of the regal past of Rajasthan and Agra, a tour on the Palace on Wheels is considered to be one of the finest ways of touring royal India. Considered to be one of the top 10 luxury trains of the world, a tour on the Palace on Wheels is an experience of a lifetime.
Dinner and overnight stay on the train.

Day 02: Jaipur (Thursday), Arrival - 0200 Hrs
The "Pink City of India", Jaipur welcomes you to the accompaniment of the traditional music of Rajasthan as well as colorfully decorated elephants. This is followed by a sightseeing tour of Jaipur.

Home to some of the most spectacular palaces and forts, Jaipur is famous for the Rambagh Palace, a palace turned hotel, where the tour also hosts an elaborate lunch for you. We also visit the "Hawa Mahal" or the "Palace on Wheels" as well as the "Amer Fort", two of the most recognizable symbols of a tour to Jaipur. A visit to the Jantar Mantar, one of the most arresting landmarks of the tourism in Jaipur also plays an important part in the tour itinerary to Jaipur. Built by Sawai Jai Singh II, the complex exemplifies the natural scientific findings of Sawai Jai Singh.

We return to the Palace on Wheels and leave for the desert paradise of Jaisalmer at 1930 hours. Dinner and overnight stay on board the train.

Day 03: Jaisalmer (Friday), Arrival - 0815 Hrs
The day begins with our arrival at Jaisalmer, after which we embark on a sightseeing tour of the city.

Located in the heart of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer is also known as the "Golden City", thanks to the effect of gold which the harsh desert sun casts on the glistening sands of the city. Built in 1156 A.D., nothing exemplifies this strait of Jaisalmer as does the exotic "Golden" Jaisalmer Fort. We include a visit to the fort as a part of the tour in addition to a visit to some of the most beautiful havelis of Jaisalmer. This is followed by a shopping spree and an exciting camel ride on the golden sand dunes of Jaisalmer. The day ends with dinner and cultural programmes at a renowned hotel of Jaisalmer.

We return to the Palace on Wheels and journey towards Jaipur at 2300 hrs.

Day 04: Jodhpur (Saturday), Arrival - 0700 Hrs
We arrive at Jodhpur in the morning.

A riot of blue, the "Blue City of Jodhpur" was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 A.D. the second largest city of Rajasthan. Home to a history and culture which finds reflection in the various tourist attractions of Jodhpur, a tour to the "Blue City" will involve visits the grand Mehrangarh Fort, which is also home to an interesting museum. We are also going to visit the Jaswant Thada which is sure to transport us to the age of the regality and chivalry as we view some of the most impressive royal cenotaphs made out of white marble. This will be followed by a lunch at the exotic Umaid Bhawan Palace.

Palace on Wheels leaves for Sawai Madhopur at 1530 hrs.

Day 05: Sawai Madhopur (Sunday), Arrive - 0400 Hrs
Arrive at Sawai Madhopur early in the morning.

Founded by Sawai Madho Singh I in the 18th century, Sawai Madhopur is a wildlife lover's paradise and is home to the famous Ranthambore National Park.

We visit the Ranthambore National Park in the morning.
