Republic Day: Every year on 26th January, a grand parade is held along Rajpath, the central avenue of Delhi, to celebrate the anniversary of India's becoming a republic. The Republic Day Parade showcases the best of India, from the might of its armed forces, to colorful floats from different states celebrating the cultural heritage and modern accomplishments of India.
Beating the Retreat: Every year as a conclusion of the Republic Day celebrations, the massed bands of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, perform at Vijay Chowk, the square overlooked by Rashtrapati Bhawan, and the administrative buildings of North and South Block, at the end of January. This melodious occasion always concludes with the song "Saare Jahan se Accha" to remind Indians about their love for their motherland.
