About Krishna Janamashtmi

According to the mythology, the followers of Lord Vishnu asked for Lord Vishnu’s mercy after the cruelty of demon king Kansha became unbearable. It is also believed that Lord Vishnu appears on earth whenever required. He appears on earth to save his followers from various problems. Hence, to put an end to evils of Kansha, Lord Vishnu came to the earth in the form of Lord Krishna. He appeared as child of Devaki. Devaki was imprisoned by his brother Kansha because it was known to Kansha that Devaki’s child would ultimately grow up and kill him. However, after the birth of Lord Krihsna he was taken to the house of Yasoda by his father Vasudeva. Krishna grew up there and ultimately killed Kansha. The day of birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated as Krishna Janamashtmi. This festival is celebrated throughout India.
