Introduction
Perhaps, the most recognizable tourist attraction of Jaipur, the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds is a distinctive palace built by Sawai Pratap Singh (grand son of Sawai Jai Singh and son of Sawai Madhoo Singh) in 1799 AD. The palace, which is one of the most inimitable architectural feats of India, was designed by an architect called Lal Chand Usta. Though the reason for the construction of the Hawa Mahal, Jaipur can still not be ascertained yet it is conjectured that the palace was built to allow the female members of the royal family to glimpse of the city outside while remaining away from public eyes under cover of the pierced and latticed windows of the Hawa Mahal.

Architecture
