Igneous rocks with large cavities, a result of the weathering effects of wind and water are common in the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary. The vegetative cover is rich and diverse. In the lower heights of the sanctuary xenomorphic subtropical thorn forests are found whereas in the upper reaches and beside the water bodies the forest cover belongs to the sub tropical evergreen variety. There are as many as 112 plant families belonging to 449 genera and 820 species out here. Bryophytes, algae, orchids, wild roses, feras and bamboo forests also constitute a part of this rich collection. Herbal plants with a lot of medicinal value are also to be spotted here.
Apart from the floral richness and diversity, the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan, India is equally well known for its fauna. Many rare and endangered species of wild animals are to be sighted here. It is the perfect home for the sloth bears and their number is seen to be increasingly on the rise. Some other animals that are to be seen her include Sambhar, Jungle Cat, Small Indian Civet, Wolf, Hyaena, Jackal, Indian Fox, Common Langoor, Wild Boar, Pangolin, Common Mongoose, Indian Hare, Porcupine and Hedgehog. The grey jungle fowl is rarely to be seen elsewhere.
