Arunachal Pradesh, one of the seven states of the northeast popularly known as 'The Seven Sisters' is the largest of all the states in the northeast. The state is full of natural beauty of mountain peaks, dense forests, flora and fauna and the tribes in their original environment. The rich forest cover encompasses almost 80 % of the land area. Arunanchal Pradesh is untouched by the modern problems that come along with the development like the deforestation, pollution, concrete jungle, congestion etc. the state has series of valleys surrounded by the Himalayas in the north and Brahmaputra in the south. Arunachal Pradesh boasts of the finest 500 species of the orchids.

Tawang is the most famous hill resort of Arunachal Pradesh. The hill station of Tawang came under Indian administration in the 1950's and went under Chinese possession for a brief period in 1962. The major attractions in Tawang are the Se La Pass and the Monpa Buddhist monastery of the 16th century AD and the Madhuri Jheel. The adventure seekers can go on the walking trail on the Bailey Trail, which is a trek of a rugged terrain along the old road to Tawang.

Ziro is another tourist destination, which lies in the Apa Tani Plateau in the center of Arunachal Pradesh. It is called the 'rice bowl'. The region is rich crisscrossed by the Subansiri, Nishi and Miri rivers. The life of the people of this small village keep themselves busy in the paddy fields and mithun herding. The bamboo architecture of the region is outstanding and worth watching. The Apa Tani tribes live in these bamboo huts. You can go on a day trip to the Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, which is only 35 km away from Ziro. You will find mithun and orchids in the wildlife sanctuary. Tezu is the native place of the Mishimi tribe.

Namdapha National Park in the Chingling district has an altitude ranging from 200m to over 4000 m above the sea level. The national park covers an area of 2000 sq km and is unexplored, unspoiled and undiscovered and presents richness in diversity. The park has variety of wildlife like the Hoolock Gibbon, Bengal Florican, Leopards, Snow Leopards, Clouded Leopard and Tigers. Miao, the local administrative headquarters is also worth a visit.
