Akshardham Temple

Akshardham temple in Delhi is perhaps the biggest and most elaborate place of worship ever built. Akshardham Temple was built by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) foundation. It took 5 years involving many millions manhours and it was inaugurated on 6th Nov 2005. It tells the saga of 10000-year-old Indian culture and modern architecture blended with different traditional architectural styles.

Akshardham temple is located near Noida Mor on the banks of Yamuna River in East Delhi.

Akshardham means the eternal, divine abode of the supreme God, the abode of eternal values and virtues of Akshar as defined in the Vedas and Upanishads where divine bhakti, purity and peace forever pervade.

Main features of Akshardham Temple

Ahrdham Temple is built purely without steel. It consists of 234 intrinsically carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars, a spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants) and 20,000 murtis and statues of India's great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine personalities. The temple is a blend of pink stone to mark bhakti in eternal bloom and white marble to mark absolute purity.

Hall of Values - Here you will experience the messages of ahimsa, endeavor, prayer, morality, vegetarianism, family harmony through fifteen 3-D dioramas and presentations from the life of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Objects in each diorama are brought to life through robotics, fiber optics, light and sound effects, dialogues and music.

Screen Film - A giant screen film is shown about the life of a child yogi, Neelkanth Varni of 18th century. It is 85*65 feet screen and film is Nelkanth Varni.

Boat Ride (Sanskruti Vihar) - Experience the india's 10000 year old glorious heritage through A 12-minute spectacular boat-ride.

Musical Fountains (Yagnapurush Kund) - Musical fountain is not just a fountain, it is the Vedic Yagna Kund. Yagnakund is made in the shape of a lotus flower and becomes lively with musical fountain in night. This is a fascinating combination of a Vedic yagna kund and a musical fountain. There is an 8 petaled lotus shaped Yagnakund lies in its center, which comes to life at night with a colorful musical water fountain.

Garden of India (Bharat Upvan) - You will surely find solace in Bharat Upvan, a beautiful, well-manicured, lush green garden that has many wonderful bronze statues of great role models of India. These statues are of India's child gems; valorous warriors, freedom fighters, national figures and great women personalities inspire visitors.
