Jag Mandir Palace Udaipur

A splendid creation of yellow sandstone and marble, the Jag Mandir Palace is built on the banks of Lake Pichola in Udaipur. The history of this marvelous structure highlights the kingdom of Mewar under the Sisodia Rajputs. It was believed to be built by the efforts of three Maharanas of the respective Sisodia clan. The magnificent palace boasts of various impressive structures that are evenly distributed in its three-Storeyed architecture. Inside tour of the Palace starts with Gul Mahal, which flaunts an Islamic architectural style. It is a major eye catcher as it is supposed to be the residence of Prince Khurram and his family. Apart from the crescent Muslim interiors, the Gul Mahal is also highlighted for its in-built mosque.

Beautifully incorporating the Gul Mahal, is the fabulous Jag Mandir, which is the main attraction of this palace. Perfectly blended in a Rajput and Mughal architectural style, the interiors of Jag Mandir have an interesting mix of residential suites, internal courts and reception halls. Besides, other attractions of the majestic palace include the Entry Pavillion, the flower garden, Bara Patharon Ka Mahal and Darikhana.

History Of Jag Mandir Palace Udaipur, Rajasthan 

Maharana Ammar Singh of Sisodia Rajputs originally developed Mewar's Jag Mandir Palace. Maharana Karan Singh and Maharana Jagat Singh further developed Jag Mandir Palace. Because Maharana Jagat Singh was the last king to build the palace, the temple was named Jag Mandir in his honour.

Architecture Of Jag Mandir Palace Udaipur 

The Jag Mandir Palace stands beautifully amidst the island of Lake Pichola. This breathtaking place adds beauty to the city of Udaipur. Marble and yellow sandstone were used to construct the magnificent three-story palace. Three Maharanas of the Mewar dynasty constructed it.

It is now a full-fledged heritage hotel, preserving its rich and royal past. The luxurious amenities at Jag Mandir make it a perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation. The entrance gate has eight elephants, four on each side. A series of impressive structures can be found in Jag Mandir, including an amazing Gul Mahal and garden courtyard. The palace is filled with intricate carvings, paintings and an extensive use of fine art. Palm trees, roses, jasmine, and bougainvilleas surround its beautiful gardens.

Jagmandir Palace Entry Fees and Timings

The Jagmandir is open every day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is advisable to visit early in the morning to avoid the harsh heat.

The Jag Mandir Palace Udaipur entry fee is free, but the boat ride is chargeable. From City Palace, the cost of the boat ride to Jag Mandir is Rs. 450 per person. After 3:00 p.m., the boat ride ticket fee is Rs. 700 per person.
