Chiragh-i-Dihli Dargah in Delhi is located in the Chirag Delhi Village. It is easily accessible from the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg through the Chiragh main road or the Outer Ring Road through the Soami Nagar South Colony. It houses the cenotaph of the Sufi saint Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud. Known as Raushan Chiragh-i-Dihli, which signifies the 'Illuminated lamp of Delhi', the sufi saint died in the year 1356. Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud was the disciple of Hazrat Nizamuddin. Nasir-ud-din Mahmud became the head of the Chisti sect after his master’s death. The village of Chirag Delhi grew up around this sacred tomb and was earlier surrounded by broken rectangular walls with gateways on each side, built by Muhammad Bin Tughlaq.
The main tomb of the pious saint is a square chamber supported on twelve pillars and enclosed by a dome with turrets on every corner. The dome here resembles that of Mubarak Shah's tomb which rises from an octagonal drum and is a plastered one. Several additions have been made in the dargah complex over time. Today the shrine complex houses the assembly hall (Majlis-Khana) or the symposium hall (Mahfil-Khana), apart from several tombs of noble and distinguished men. The sacred cpmplex houses several mosques. Emperor Farrukhsiyar built one of the mosques in the early 18th century in veneration and reverence of the holy saint.
