Marine Drive

Marine Drive, built on reclaimed land in 1920, has recently added a park called Nana-Nani Park for elderly people. The Queen's Necklace, as Marine Drive is popularly known, has seen the changing of its dazzling streetlights from diamonds (white light) to gold (yellow lights).

Description
Marine Drive is a 3 km long avenue in South Mumbai, shaped like an inverted 'C'. A natural bay on Arabian Sea, it has six lanes and run along the coast. Marine Drive has recently come to be known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road with Nariman Point on one end to Babulnath and Malabar Hill, while at the foot of Walkeshwar on the other. The curve of the road resembles a radiant pearl string. Chowpatty Beach at the northern end of Marine Drive is famous for its snacks and fast food.

Besides, statues of Lokmanya Tilak and Vallabhai Patel can also be seen at Marine Drive. A plethora of stalls adorn the beach, selling Bhelpuri, Kulfi and Paan. There are also shooting galleries, snake charmers, monkey trainers, balloon-sellers and even masseurs.

How to reach
To visit the Marine Drive , you can come down to Mumbai by air, by rail, or by road. Mumbai is an international airport, and is also the busiest domestic air network in the country. The international terminal is at Sahar, which is 30 km north of the city center. The domestic terminal at Santa Cruz is just 4 km away. The main railway station is Victoria Terminal, now renamed Chattrapati Shivaji Terminal. Other railway stations are Dadar, Churchgate, and Kurla. Prepaid taxis are available from the airports to the downtown.
