Introduction
Mumbai, previously known as Bombay, is renowned as the financial capital of India. One of the busiest metros in the country, the society of Mumbai is multi-lingual and multi-cultural. Besides, there are various popular tourist destinations in Mumbai , the capital of Maharashtra that makes this port city more colorful, like the Haji Ali Mosque, Hanging Gardens, Victoria Terminus, Elephanta Caves, Marine Drive, etc. Shopping in Mumbai is another famous tourist attraction of the city.

The major shopping areas of Mumbai are -

Chor Bazar (Thieves Market)
A haven for antique hunters, Chor Bazar is arguably one of Mumbai's best shopping centers. Occupied by an odd collection of shops dealing with goods from second-hand car parts to handmade furniture, the market offers you items like good painting, jewelry, wooden articles, statues, leather ware, general bric-a-brac, etc, for purchase. There are a number of shops where you can bargain. Open from Saturday to Thursday between 11am and 7pm, the main avenue of the market is Mutton Street.

Crawford Market
Open from Monday to Saturday between 11:30am and 8pm, the Crawford Market houses interesting varieties of fresh fruits, vegetables, imported cheese, chocolates, and a meat section, sold at wholesale rates. Also known as Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Market, named after a local patriot, this old Victorian building is located north of the Victoria Terminus station. Built in 1869, the market has a bas-relief just above the main entrance, designed by Lockyard Kipling, father of Rudyard Kipling, depicting workers in a wheat field. Across the street there is a bazaar area called Lohar chawl that offers an extensive range of goods.

Fashion Street
One of Mumbai's chief exports is readymade garments, and the surplus lands up at Fashion Street, a huddle of little shops on Mahatma Gandhi Road. There are at least 130 to 140 shops, storing clothes that are of good quality, trendy, and possibly the cheapest anywhere. Besides clothing, there are also several shoe and jewelry shops. You can bargain for any purchase you make.

How to reach
