Introduction to Mandore Garden:
Mandore garden is a popular local attraction. In the Mandore garden, there are the dewals or cenotaphs of Jodhpur's former rulers. Mandore garden has high rock terrace. The garden is open for tourists from 8 am to 8 pm. The ruined fort and palace of yester years are still intact on the hilltop and below this there is Mandore garden for public amusement and has the cenotaphs of Jodhpur's maharajas probably using this garden. Besides a baoli, there is the Hall of Heroes, with 15 figures carved out of living rock, from where the path to the fort reaches Mandore Gardens.
History of Mandore Garden:
Mondore is a site of ruined fort and palace in Rajasthan. Once it was an important town and was the capital city of Marwar state long before Jodhpur. Mandore was the wedding gift to Rathore rulers of Marwar, which has to abandoned for the security of Mehrangarh fort.
Description of Mandore Garden:
While visiting Mandore Garden, you will notice there are dewals or cenotaphs of former Jodhpur rulers. The most striking feature here is that the shape of cenotaph varies from typical Chattri-type, these cenotaphs are made like Hindu Temples. They are four storied high, with fine columns and magnificent spirals made in red sandstone. The most prominent dewal is of Maharaja Ajit Singh. Backdrop is of beautiful Mandore Garden.
There is a Hall of Heroes, which is dedicated to deities, and Heroes. Besides, there is "The Shrine of the Three Hundred Million Gods" in the Mandore Garden.
The shrine is studded with brightly colored images of various Hindu Gods. From here you can reach the fort of Mandore.
