Popularly called Kanak Sone ki Mandir, the Kanak Bhawan Mandir, Ayodhya gets its name from the richly ornamented idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. Kanak in Hindi means gold. This is according to popular legend, more authentic historical information say that Rani Krishnabhanu Kunwari of Orccha constructed this temple in 1891.
