Shiva Temple Mathura

Introduction to Shiva Temple, Mathura
The land where Lord Krishna the most adorable and beloved incarnation of Lord Vishnu is supposed to have been born and spent his youth is called Brajbhumi. This land abounds in several little towns and hamlets that still sing the song of Krishna’s birth and bask in the glory of those days when lord used to play his mellifluous flute. Today Brajbhumi is segregated into two main towns such as Mathura and Vrindavan. Mathura is a quaint town located on the river Yamuna. It was blessed by the birth of the Lord Krishna. Vrindavan on the other hand is an attractive village graced with fragrant groves. It is the place where Krishna spent his most eventful period of life i.e. youth. Today Mathura has become a favorite tourist destination for being dotted with interesting spots. The Shiva Temple in Mathura deserves special attention here.

The Mathura Shiva Temple is one of the very popular holy places in Mathura and also enjoys a distinction for being consecrated to Lord Shiva. The specialty of this temple is that four siva lingas are located on the four sides of the city and protect it.
