Lamayuru Alchi Trek

Duration :14 Night /15 Days
Destinations : Delhi - Leh - Lamayuru - Urshi - Hinju - Base of Chokila - Sumdah - Another side of Stokpila - B. o. Takpila - Alchi - Basgo - Leh - Delhi

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
lamayuru-alchi-trek On arrival assistance and transfer to Hotel for overnight.

Day 02 : Delhi
Morning combined city sightseeing Old and New Delhi covering Jama Masjid - The largest mosque in Asia, Red Fort (closed on Monday) -The red stone magic, Gandhi memorial-The memoir of father of the nation. Sightseeing India Gate - The memorial of martyrs, Parliament House - The govt. head quarters, Humayun Tomb and Qutab Minar. Overnight hotel.

Day 03 : Delhi - Leh (3520 M)
Early morning transfer to domestic airport to connect flight to Leh. On arrival at Leh airport transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to get used to the rarefied air of Ladakh Evening walk in the market overnight at hotel.

Day 04 : Leh
After breakfast am sightseeing Shankar Gompa, Shanti Stup & Tsemo Castle (Victory Tower) with local English speaking monastery guide, Pm local visit in the markets. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 : Leh Sightseeing
lamayuru-alchi-trek After breakfast drive toward Hemis around 45 km from Leh, En route visit Shey, & Thiksey monasteries Shey was the old capital and the home of the kings of Ladakh before the new capital became established in Leh the palace sits in a strategic position on a spur jutting out into the Indus valley. Thiksey, this large Gompa is an impressive sight, situated on top of a craggy hill while the rest of the complex sprawls down beneath it Overnight stay

Day 06 : Leh - Lamayuru
After breakfast drive to lamayuru enrout visit of village saspol, basgo & rizong MONASTERY Then Continue Drive to lamayuru. overnight & meal.

Day 07 : Lamayuru - Urshi : (3450 m) - 4-5 hrs trek
After breakfast start the trek, walk down to a stream and follow its bed east. After half an hour walk take a path that cuts uphill to some chortens and prayer flages the trail goes oner arid land in a southerly direction following a stream bed oftendry until its spilt.walk up the botom of the small gully on teh lefft until that also splits, this time in three direction again take the left fork which winds steeply up to the prinkiti la (3770m). Cross the pass and descent till urshi sets the tent for o/n.

Day 08 : Urshi - Hinju : (3750 m) 5-6 hrs trek
Head upstream on the right bank of the fanjila ( 3300m) the muddy river is your only water source for over two hours just beforea group of houses. the trail to alchi turns north-east up the ripchar valley the main trail crosses the pipchare river. there are a few places to camp in tehmeadows below you. Overnight at tent.
Day 09 : Hinju - Base of Chokila (4900 m) - 4-5 hrs terk
The trail continues up the valley, crossing several side stream and passing a few camp sites follow the main stream all the time. it is a strenuous climb to the top of this pass but you are rewarded with viws all teh way back to the prinkiti la. overnight at tent.

Day 10 : Base of Chokila/ Sumdah : (3900 m)/ 4-5 hrs trek
lamayuru-alchi-trek This isolated village shows few signs of change and the villagers are still largely self sufficient. there are two resident monks at teh small gompa here. which comes under teh jurisdictions of hemis. as you leave the village there is a ruined gompa far below. overnight tent.

Day 11 : Sumdah - Another side of Stokpila (4959 m) 4-5 hrs
The route gradually up. ascend a valley to the north -east of the village along the side if a small triburary, opposite some huts there is a small uneven flate area which is sometimes used as a base used the pass teh going gets harder as you ascend a series of giant steps formed in a past glacial age. there is not much of a path but a dry strem bed soom materialises giving you somthin follow in the right direction. whole of the limir to temisgan trek can be seen faid out beneath you to the north . Over night tent.

Day 12 : B. o. Takpila -Alchi (3150m ) 4-5 hrs trek
when we cross the large prosperous village carry on down teh trail to road turn right to the village gompa. most people come to alchi to see teh unique iconography of its famous lowlying gompa with plenty of accommodation available and its proximity of likir & suspole. on arrival check in to guest house for overnight and meal.

Day 13 : Alchi - Basgo - Leh
Early morning after breakfast we proceeding towards the famous monastery alchi this is choskor or religious enclave, is one of the most important cultural sites in ladakh. built in the 11th century it is a treasure trove of early Buddhist art in the kashmiri tradition a style quite different from the Tibetan art found in ladakh's other monasteries. alchi is one of the few remaining examples of that era. After visit continue drive to leh, on arrival check into hotel for overnight.

Day 14 : Leh - Delhi
On time assistance and transfer to airport to board flight to Delhi9. On arrival assistance and transfer to Hotel. On time assistance and transfer to Hotel . Evening assistance and transfer to airport for onward destinations.

Day 15 : Depart-Delhi
