1st Day : Delhi - Paro by Druk Air
During this flight, one will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Kanchan Junga and other Himalayan Peaks including sacred Mt. Chomolhari and Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan. Upon arrival at Paro Airport, you will be received and escorted by our representative. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
2nd Day : Paro - Thimphu
This morning follow the winding road beside the Pa Chu (Chu means water) down stream to its confluence with the Wang Chu the up-valley to Thimphu, the capital. Afternoon lunch at the Hotel. After the lunch visit the Memorial Chorten, the shrine dedicated to the Late King. Overnight at the Hotel.
3rd Day : Thimphu - Gangtey Gompa
After breakfast leave for Gangtey. The roads winds through the forest to Dochu La (La means pass), where in good weather 200 miles of Himalayan summits are in view. After driving 3 hours you will reach Wangdi. Lunch at Wangdi. After a further 3 hours drive you will reach Gangtey. Overnight in camp.
4th Day : Gangtey Gompa - Halt
5th Day : Gangtey Gompa - Gogona
A moderate trail winds through meadows and fields then ascends the Tselela pass through mixed forests of Juniper, bamboo, Magnolia and Rhododendrons. The people of Gogona speak a language called Bjopkha, the language of nomads. Their life in this isolated valley has encouraged them to continue using their ancient dialect. Distance is about 15 KM about 6/7 Hrs.
6th Day : Gogona - Khotokha
A gentle climb leads to Shobjula (11,155 ft.). The descend leads to a wide valley, reminiscent of the big sky views of mountain. Overnight in tent. Distance is about 15/16 KM about 6/7 hours.
7th Day : Khotokha - Chuzomsa - Wangdi via Niizergang
A short ascend leads to the Tashila (9,200 ft.). Be sure to fill your water bottle shortly after crossing the pass, as the descend is dry. Walk down through ever-changing vegetation into the drainage of the Dang Chu. Overnight in Wangdi Guest House.
8th Day : Wangdi - Thimphu
After breakfast drive to Punakha Dzong view point at the north end of the Punakha valley. It was the nation's capital until 1966. The Je-Khempo, the head abbot of the religion in the country and most of the monks of Thimphu occupy this dzong throughout the winter since the lower elevation of this valley has more comfortable temperature. Return over the Dochu La pass and stop at Cafeteria for a hot cup of tea and some snacks and also if the weather is clear you will have the beautiful views of the Himalayan snow-capped mountain continue to drive to Thimphu, the present capital of Bhutan. Overnight in Hotel.
9th Day : Thimphu -Paro
Early morning drive to Paro International Airport for onward flight.
