About Khara Pathar

The lofty peaks at Khara Pathar are of great interest to tourists as they offer picturesque views of the surrounding places. There are few interesting activities to do here other than to unwind. The apple orchards and rich vegetation add to the scenic charm of the place. Trees cover most of the hilly slopes and there is little sparse area. Tourists love the serenity of the place and even the single travelers prefer the tranquility. Those on a day's excursion from Shimla can plan a picnic here. Though Khara Pathar is not an attractive destination for most travelers, it appeals to vacationers for its location far away from the city. It also attracts the attention of trekkers and mountaineers as well.

Khara Pathar is positioned on the Shimla-Rohru Highway. Jubbal is 13 km drive from this hill station and the nearest railhead is at Kalka around 165 km away. The travel time from Delhi is around 6 hours. Khara Pathar is situated in the eastern part of Himachal Pradesh.

Places to see around Khara Pathar

Giri Ganga Temple - Popular as the pahari temple, Giri Ganga shrine is the only noted structure on these hills. It attracts tourists and pilgrims alike.

Jubbal - Jubbal is a hill-side town situated on the valley along the Pabbar River. This valley falls on the way to Shimla.

Seema - A small village in Himachal Pradesh that is close to Jubbal and Khara Pathar has numerous small streams and heaven to anglers.

Chiragaon - Chiragaon is an unexplored locale close to Seema and the Pabbar River flows through this village as well. The two streams of Andhra and Gumma join the river Pabbar at Chiragaon. The banks of these streams are ideal for picnic and angling.

Kotkhai - This place features apple orchards and several horticulture gardens make it look picturesque throughout the year. The Giri River passes through this place making it a fertile and rich in vegetation. Highest point of Kotkhai is at 5,774 feet above sea level.

Hatkeshwari Temple - Believed to be constructed by the Pandavas, this temple is known for its artistry and architecture. It reflects the pagoda style of architecture and is located amidst dense woods. The image of Hatkeshwari is placed in the sanctum of the temple and premises have 5 other shrines.
