Ranikhet is a picturesque hill town in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is home to the Kumaon Regiment and situated at an elevation of 1869 meters. The western peaks of the Himalayan Mountains are clearly visible from here. Popularly known as the 'Queen's Meadow', Ranikhet gives you a glimpse of expanse of green valley that is treat to the eyes. It is a popular hill station in the country mostly because of its pleasant climate during the summer months. Tourists visiting Almora make it a point to stop over at Ranikhet as well. The Kumaon Regiment Cantonment extends over two ridges. The first one is known as the Ranikhet Ridge and is at 1824 meters and the second one is Chaubatia Ridge with an altitude of 2116 meters.

December-February is the peak season in Ranikhet and the climate is at its best. You will come across a variety of flora and fauna such as green deodar and oak forests.

Chaubatia Gardens - A 10 km drive from Ranikhet, Chaubatia Gardens is also popularly known as the Orchard Country. There are several orchards of alpine fruits here. There are also stalls selling fresh apple juice just brought from the orchards . During the winters, you can get clear views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Upat and Kalika Golf Course - One of Asia's highest 9-hole golf courses is situated in Ranikhet and is a major draw for golf lovers. There is also a Kali Temple adjacent to this golf course.
Haidakhan Temple - A 4 km drive from Ranikhet will take you to the Haidakhan Temple. Lord Shiva is the principal deity here and this hilltop shrine offers beautiful views of the town.
Jhuladevi Temple - Dedicated to Goddess Parvati, the Jhula Devi Temple was constructed during the 8th century. It is a revered place of worship among the local Hindus.

Kumaon Regimental Museum - Opened in 1970, this museum houses documents related to the history of the Kumaon regiment. It also has other valuables such as silver scepter that belonged to the Rani of Jhansi, series of Chinese rifles and guns, wireless telephone from the Second World War.

Katarmal - The world famous Katarmal Sun Temple is a 25 km drive from Ranikhet. It ranks second among the popular sun temples in the country, first being the Konark in Orissa. Dating to at least 800 years, this place is partly in ruins now.
Binsar Mahadev Temple - A revered shrine of Lord Shiva, the Binsar Mahadev Temple is around 15 km away from town of Ranikhet. Bounded by cedar forest, this place offers charming views.
